The Blue Matsya is just a 40-min drive from Mangalore (Bajpe) Airport. Mangalore is 1 hour and 15 mins by air from Mumbai, or 45 mins from Bangalore. There are daily direct flights to Mangalore with some like Jet and Air India having more than 2 flights a day.
An efficient pre-paid cab service is available at the airport or if you prefer, airport pick and drop can be organized.
By road:
There are few road trips you can take in India which can beat the spectacular route that takes you from Mumbai to Mangalore. From Goa the entire route on the NH17 goes along the coast. At one point, the national highway slices through the sea with the Arabian sea on one side and the back waters on the other. The Mumbai-Mangalore drive is approximately 16 hours, Goa-Mangalore is about 4 hours and Bangalore-Mangalore around 7 hours. There are extremely comfortable air-conditioned Volvo buses that ply between Mumbai and Mangalore as well as from Bangalore to Mangalore. These buses drop you right up to Kaup. And The Blue Matsya is just a kilometer away from the bus stop.
By train:
For those coming from Mumbai/Pune/Goa, alight at Udupi Station, a major stop for most trains coming to Mangalore. A friendly Dayanand with his autorickshaw can come right up to the station to welcome and take you straight to the Blue Matsya in 20 minutes. A cab pick-up and drop can be arranged too. Udupi is a 13-hour train journey from Mumbai and a 4-hour one from Madgaon Goa. The Konkan rail route is widely acknowledged as one of the most picturesque rails journeys in India.
For those coming from Bangalore, the journey through the Western Ghats offers fabulous views of valleys, waterfalls, hills, streams & brooks and endless tunnels. The beauty of the Western Ghats can be enjoyed especially between Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya Road Ghat. The Mangalore Express leaves Bangalore at night and arrives in Mangalore by 8 am.
